Black With No Chaser Institute
DEAP is a program of the Black With No Chaser Institute. The Institute provides the nonprofit foundation: administration, financial oversight, and accountability for where the money goes and what it accomplishes.
The wider Black With No Chaser organization contributes the media side, including storytelling, reach, and an audience built over years of consistent work. Together they operate as a single system.
The commitments we do not compromise
- The people we serve set the direction. Programs are shaped by the communities in them, not designed elsewhere and delivered.
- We leave more than we take. If a community is not more capable after we finish than before we arrived, we did the work wrong.
- Programs have to fit the people in the room. Curriculum built for somewhere else rarely lands here.
- Communities with the fewest resources are served first.
- The work has to outlast us. That is the entire purpose.
Before we commit to anything, we ask three questions. Does this bring more people into the work? Does it develop leaders? Does it help a community build something it owns? If the answer is no, we either fix it or we decline.
